Trends & Challenges in the Property Insurance Business Today
Within the $400 billion property/casualty insurance industry, property events still loom large and are often the defining event in any given year. In 2003 there were four billion dollar-plus event, making it one of the worst year ever for natural disaster losses. September 11, Andrew and Northridge were all primarily property events whose names will live in infamy. This presentation prevents a comprehensive overview on the property insurance business and details how financial results are affected by events, even in an industry where most of the growth is occurring the casualty/liability segments. The industry's challenges are also discussed.
